Two authors of a book “how not to marry the wrong man”, Jennifer Gauvain & Anne Milford, did a research to 1000 women in America and Australia: “What are the reasons they decide to marry their spouse even though they have doubt of its success?” 
Evidently there are 5 reasons that generally to be revealed such as: 

-We have been dating for quite a long time, so I don’t want to waste it.


-I don’t want to live alone again, because I’m used to having a boyfriend.


-Even though I realise the weakness of my boyfriend, but I hope that he might be able to change after we get married.


-We have already sent the wedding invitation, so it will be embarrassing if we have to cancel it. We have also paid the wedding party cost, we don’t want to experience a material big lost


-My boyfriend is a good man, I don’t want to disappoint him by cancelling the wedding.


It’s not surprising at this present time, 40% of the American marriage failed, and 1 out of 3 marriages in Australia ended up in divorce.
So what should be the main reason as a Christian to marry their spouse even though they know that they are not marrying a perfect person?

Genesis 2: 18 (KJV)
(18) And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Firstly, Marriage is the only sacrament that was decreed by God in the Garden of Eden before mankind fell into sin. God will be responsible for the marriage he has established. He sees it’s not good that man should be alone. In otherwords, God wants to meet the human’s life becoming a better life through their marriage. So, if God establishes the marriage, undoubtedly, the marriage will be GREAT for sure, because God’s idea will never be wrong and never fail.

Therefore, you have to be sure and have faith that your marriage would be GREAT even though you are not marrying a perfect person and has some weaknesses. Don’t always rely on your spouse, because he or she is limited, but always rely on God who is always able to guarantee that His words will be done exactly as He says. So if your marriage is being focused on His words, your lives will be GREAT and your marriage life will be successful.



Secondly, even though marriage are not Problem Free, God has provided for you comparable helper which is your matched spouse. You have to have faith that your spouse has been created by God to be your comparable helper for you. He or she is not a perfect helper, but it is comparable match with you. It means, his or her weaknesses and strengths are comparable with your weaknesses and strengths as well. So you shouldn’t have to be proud of yourself when you see his or her weaknesses, and it shouldn’t have to become inferior when you see his or her strengths, because your strengths will fill in his or her weaknesses and your weaknesses will be filled in by his or her strengths.

One day there was a wedding party in Cana, Galilee. They had a problem and that they had ran out of their sweet wine. Fortunately, Jesus had been invited to the wedding by the bride and groom, so He could help their difficulty. The bible says, in those Cana wedding, Jesus made his first miracle, which was turning water into wine, so up until the conclusion of the wedding they never ran out of wine. This had proven that Jesus confirmed and blessed the wedding and their marriage.

Today, I hope you have also invited Jesus into your marriage. Therefore, even though your physical eyes do not see it, your eyes of faith know that Jesus is absolutely present at the wedding, because Jesus never changes.
